The Federal Shariat Court held the Interest Act 1839 and the interest provisions of the Code of Civil Procedure repugnant to Islam (Farooq Brothers v. United Bank Limited, 28 April 2022), to take effect on 31 December 2027. An appeal pending before the Shariat Appellate Bench keeps a decision from taking effect, and appeals were reported pending. Check the position on the day you file.
